Arrest made in pellet rifle shots at mosque, Chicago police say

Police say they've arrested a man after a pellet rifle shooting recently damaged a mosque in a northern Chicago suburb.

A police statement emailed Sunday said 51-year-old David Conrad, a resident of Morton Grove who lives near the Muslim Education Center, faces felony charges.

The statement released by Morton Grove Police Cmdr. Paul Yaras said Conrad faces three counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm and one count of criminal damage to property. It adds a high-velocity air rifle outfitted with a scope was seized.

It was not immediately known if Conrad has a lawyer. A bond hearing was scheduled Monday.

A Muslim civil liberties group said shots damaged the center's outer brick wall Friday night. No one was injured.

The Cook County State's Attorney's office joined in the investigation
